Aspen/Snowmass

Aspen is in a remote area of the Rocky Mountains’ Sawatch Range and Elk Mountains.  It is along the Roaring Fork River at an elevation just below 8,000 feet above sea level on the Western Slope.  11 miles west of the Continental Divide.  Under the Köppen climate classification, Aspen has a humid continental climate.

There is a large diurnal temperature variation between daytime and nighttime temperatures, rendering summer days moderately warm and winter nights very cold for the latitude.
